The NHL has made several changes to the format of the Cup final.
This year, it will be split into two groups of six teams each.
The winner will face the third-place finisher in the regular-season finale.
In the event of a tie, the team that advances to the championship game will play the winner in the next round.
The teams will play in six games, starting on Sunday.
The winner of the Stanley’s final will face his or her opponent in the championship series, which will be held Jan. 28-29 in Tampa, Fla.
The first round of the conference final will take place Jan. 29-30 in Nashville.
The Stanley Finals will take over the second weekend in February.
The two teams that advance to the conference semifinals will play each other in the first round.
The third- and fourth-place teams will face each other twice in the second round of playoff play.
The third-, fourth- and fifth-place playoff teams will also play each one in the third round.
