The Aviation Industry Association of America said Wednesday that it’s offering a job offer to the man who is a top contender for a top FAA job.
The FAA’s inspector general is looking into the possible sale of AOPA, a group that provides technical advice and technical support to the agency’s commercial airliners.
AOPA has worked with the FAA for decades.
The AOPA job is expected to pay at least $180,000 a year.
AARP said it’s looking for the best person with experience working with airlines on technical issues, and with the right knowledge and knowledge of aviation regulations and industry.
The organization said it will be a great fit for an FAA inspector general.
The FAA declined to comment on the offer.
The group, which represents commercial pilots, said it has about 100 members.
It has said it believes that FAA inspectors general are responsible for ensuring that the safety of the American people is being protected.
The AOPA said it is seeking to recruit an experienced and motivated person with extensive FAA experience.
